WGS Core and Program Faculty Awards

For the 2022-2023 Academic Year, these Core and Program Faculty Members of the Women's and Gender Studies Program have won the following awards:

  • Shari Stenberg, WGS Director and English Professor: The Aaron Douglas Professorship in English and Women's and Gender Studies.  The Aaron Douglas professorship recognizes a sustained record of teaching excellence and national visibility for instructional activities/practice.
  • Kelsy Burke, Associate Professor, Sociology: College of Arts and Sciences College Outstanding Research and Creativity Award, which recognizes significant research and creative accomplishments of UNL faculty in the last five years.
  • Dawne Curry, Associate Professor, History and Ethnic Studies: CAS Inclusive Excellence and Diversity Award, which honors people, organizations, or units within the college involved in innovative or exemplary activities that have an impact on campus or in the community that promotes inclusive excellence and diversity.
  • Julia Frengs, Associate Professor, French/Modern Languages and Literatures: College of Arts and Sciences College Distinguished Teaching Award, which honors consistently excellent teaching.
  • Iker Gonzalez-Allende, Professor, Spanish/Modern Languages and Literatures: College of Arts and Sciences College Outstanding Research and Creativity Award, which recognizes significant research and creative accomplishments of UNL faculty in the last five years.
  • Kathryn Holland, Assistant Professor, Psychology and Women's and Gender Studies: 2002 Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contributions to the LGBTQ+ Community
  • Katrina JagodinskyHarold and Esther Edgerton Associate Professor of History: College of Arts and Sciences College Mentoring Award, which honors faculty or staff involved in exemplary mentoring activities. Many of our faculty and staff are dedicated and effective mentors, and this award recognizes mentoring excellence that goes above and beyond normally expected contributions.
  • Jeannette Jones, Associate Professor in History and Ethnic Studies: the Happold Professor in History and Ethnic Studies
  • Stephen Lahey, Professor, Classics and Religious Studies: the Cotner College Professor in Classics and Religious Studies
  • Timothy SchaffertSusan J. Rosowski Professor; Director, Creative Writing: 2022 Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contributions to the LGBTQ+ Community
