Plan Ahead for Academic Merit and Study Abroad Scholarships
Available Spring 2012
The Department of Modern Languages offers scholarships twice a year. The first round in the Spring semester is for students studying abroad in the Summer, Fall or the next Spring and also for acadmic merit. This would include students with a language major or minor who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The round in the Fall is specific to study abroad students only. The students would be going abroad for that next Spring or Summer only.
Scholarships can range from $100 - $2000 depending on the number of applicants. The highest amounts are awarded to the students who are majoring in a language with minors in a language receiving next highest. Applications come out in mid-September and mid-February. They are usually due within a month. All that is required for the application is to fill out the form which can be picked up at 1111 Oldfather Hall and return it with an official transcript. Transcripts can be obtained from Registration & Records at no cost. Students who are transfers or recent high school grads can obtain a transcript from their previous school. Awards will be applied to your student account for the semester that you go abroad or in the Fall for those awarded academic merit scholarships.
