Beyond Violence: Dare to Speak
Student Research Conference

No Limits! 2012 will be held at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Milo Bail Student Center (MBSC). The conference theme is "Beyond Violence: Dare to Speak." Dr. Michael Kimmel will give the keynote address on Friday, March 2, at 11 a.m. in the MBSC Ballroom. His address is: "Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men." A luncheon will follow Dr. Kimmel's address, and concurrent sessions of student research and creative activity will fill the afternoon. Dinner will be offered. Jenn Freitag has been invited to present "I Want My Jacket Back" Friday evening at 7 p.m. (Visit www.iwantmyjacketback.com for more information). The conference will continue on Saturday, March 3, with concurrent sessions of student research and creative activity, a luncheon, and an alumni roundtable. Sex+Money, a new documentary on domestic sex trafficking, will be shown Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. An expert panel will lead discussion following. (www.sexandmoneyfilm.com)

The annual No Limits! Conference focuses on student presentations of research and/or creative activity. Proposals for presentations of creative and scholarly work are invited from undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates on any topic from any discipline related to: women’s lives, masculinity, feminism, work, history, cultures, or gender studies.

Creative writing, visual arts, film, music, performance and scholarly papers are welcome. Students who wish to present their work at the conference should submit the following information via email to Dr. Karen Falconer Al-Hindi kfalconeralhindi@unomaha.edu (“No Limits” in the subject line):

·    Project information: Title and abstract of approx. 250 words describing your project, including its significance
·    Contact information: Student’s name, university affiliation, mailing address, email address, phone.
·    Send this information as an attachment (.doc, .docx, or .rtf) AND in the body of the email.

Deadline for submissions is January 27, 2012

Please register in advance for the conference by filling out the registration form and returning it by February 17.
