About me
Zhenghong Tang is an assistant professor in the Community and Regional Planning Program in the College of Architecture at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a courtesy assistant professor in the School of Natural Resources, a faculty fellow in the Water Center and the Center for Advanced Land Management Information Technologies at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also a research fellow in the Environmental Planning and Sustainability Research Unit in the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center at Texas A&M University.
His previous research addressed watershed management information system, environmental spatial modeling, soil erosion and non-point pollution mechanisms, geohazard risk assessment, and land use driven-factors analysis. His recent research mainly emphasized integrating strategic environmental impacts with local land use planning. His current research and outreach projects focus on local land use planning capacity, natural resources management, hazards mitigation, and climate change mitigation and adaptations.
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Environmental Planning and Policy, GIS in Environmental Design, and Planning Theory. His research and teaching interests cover: land use planning, environmental planning & policies, environmental impact assessment, local climate change responses, urban and regional development policies, environmental hazards management, watershed management, quantitative methods and GIS analysis, and international (China) planning.
