Whether you are new to the capital city or born and raised here, there is so much to love about life in Lincoln. For the doers, the book worms, the sports fanatics and everyone in between — there’s a million reasons why this city is something special.
1. The delicious cuisine
Every corner of Lincoln is packed with delicious and diverse cuisine. From more casual dining like Pita & Naan to sit-down restaurants like Hiro 88, there’s a little something for everyone. Looking for more options? Check out this list.
2. The “Nebraska Nice” culture
It’s a well-known fact that Nebraskans are some of the nicest people in the world. A friendly smile at the grocery store, a “Go Big Red” on game day and a door held open. As a bonus — the Nebraskan spirit follows you everywhere. So, be prepared to hear “Husker, Power” at the airport and someone excited to talk about their time at UNL when you interview for a new job. Nebraskans are one of a kind.
3. Experience all four seasons

The changing leaves in the fall, fluffy white snow falling on the branches, spring blooms and summer sun — Lincoln has it all. It’s next to impossible to pick our favorite because there’s something special in each season. Here in Lincoln, we experience it all.
4. Our campuses
One of the central highlights — both literally and figuratively — of the city is the place we all call home. Campus is in the heart of the Capital City, filled with rich history and astonishing beauty. Three is better than one, though, and we also have East Campus, home of the Dairy Store and a beautiful arboretum to explore, and Innovation Campus, a hub for creativity.
5. The ultimate game day experience

This is the place — home to the greatest fans in college athletics. Saturdays spent at Memorial Stadium, a packed house at the Bob and roaring cheers at Hibner Stadium, no one does sports quite like Nebraska.
6. The Husker community
The Husker community welcomes kids, college students, families, grandparents and anyone else you can think of. Out and about in the city, you’ll find a family walking into Memorial Stadium, students in coffee shops and grandparents strolling through one of our many parks. The Husker family is diverse, with members from many walks of life.
7. Endless community-based opportunities

Lincoln is bursting at the seams with opportunities to get involved in our community. Whether you are looking for a full-time job after crossing the stage at graduation or looking to volunteer, Huskers are impacting the city.
8. Areas for Exploration
When it comes to exploring outdoors, the Midwest is the best! All around Lincoln there are parks, trails, hiking paths, lakes, courts and so much more. Whether you are looking to plan a picnic in the park or start a friendly game of pickleball, adventure through the city.
9. From cityscapes to quaint neighborhoods
One of the best things about Lincoln is there is a little bit of everything. There is the city scene downtown and quaint neighborhoods all around. So, when you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle, or perhaps looking for more excitement, you have the option here.
10. This is HOME

Last, and most importantly, this city has a special way to quickly transform into being a home away from home. The “Nebraska Nice” community becomes a family. While you may be a few miles or thousands of miles away from your true family, you’re sure to fall in love with Lincoln in no time.
