Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Lincoln is full of great spots to start your day with a few friends, a hot drink and good food. Here are six spots near campus to visit from students.
Cultiva
Cultiva is the cutest spot to sit with a friend for a coffee and a crepe or Johnny Cake. With indoor and outdoor seating, you can visit any time of the year. Head to their downtown or East Campus location to try a sweet or savory crepe for brunch!
Taqueria El Rey
If you haven’t tried Mexican breakfast, hop on the bus and visit Taqueria El Rey, a hole-in-the-wall eatery on the corner of 27th and O. Spend your morning trying food from their traditional breakfast menu like huevos rancheros, huevos con chorizo, chilaquiles and more.
Tina’s Café
Tina’s Café is one of Lincoln’s smallest but mightiest breakfast spots. A local favorite, you can find giant cinnamon rolls, thick-cut hash browns and pancakes that fill your entire plate. Don’t forget — this classic diner is cash only so plan ahead.

The Mill
The Mill is a Lincoln staple and if you haven’t tried it, now is the time. Head to any of their four locations for a variety of coffees, smoothies and teas, food, pastries and good vibes. Bonus: if you’re looking for a gift to take back home, The Mill has a bunch of options, from shirts to coffee beans and more.
Hub Café
Hub Café is a Sunday morning must if you’re looking to grab brunch made using locally sourced ingredients. Weather permitting, you can grab a table outside and enjoy the nice breeze and views of Antelope Valley scenery. Too cold outside? There’s a full coffee menu available for you to warm up with your meal inside.
The Scarlet Hotel
From overnight oats with fresh fruit to hearty buttermilk biscuits, The Scarlet Hotel on Nebraska Innovation Campus has a couple of options for your breakfast cravings. Learn more about the hotel’s Good Life Coffee Shop (tip: this is also a great study place!) and Well & Good here.
