July 7, 2021

While every month should be National Ice Cream month, July’s hot temperatures make it the perfect month to celebrate with a scoop or two. Check out some local student favorites close enough to walk to from campus, or a quick drive or bus ride away.
Dairy Store
IYKYK. The Dairy Store has over 100 flavors on rotation and has been serving premium handmade dairy products as part of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 1917. Stop by for a scoop on a warm summer night and be sure to take a walk around East Campus. Our personal fav flavors are Scarlet & Cream and Bavarian Mint.
Ivanna Cone
A one-of-a-kind family-owned and operated premium handmade ice cream shop, Ivanna Cone has been around for more than a decade! Located in the heart of Lincoln, Nebraska’s Haymarket, Ivanna Cone is a must-stop location. Be sure to check out their unique flavors such Honey Basil, Lemon Cheesecake and Puppy Chow, to name a few.

402 Creamery
402 Creamery is small batch and made from scratch with many of the ingredients sourced from Lincoln locals. If you are looking for a place that switches the menu up monthly to go with the seasons, this is the place — don’t worry though; their signature flavors like Chocolate Milk & Cookies and Cinnamon Snickerdoodle are always available.
Freezing Thai Rolled Ice Cream
Freezing is fun place to have cup of Thai rolled ice cream handcrafted right in front of your eyes! Located right down the street from city campus, the options are endless for a sweet treat. Don’t forget to snap a pic to post to Instagram because this ice cream is a work of art.

C&L Dairy Sweet
Located right outside of Pioneers Park, C&L Dairy Sweet is known for its lemon ice cream cones that they serve on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you can’t make it on one of those days, it’s still worth the drive to get a Krunch cone or milkshake. They are open April through October, so head over today.
Scoops
Though it’s a short drive from campus, you won’t want to miss out on Scoops. In addition to shaved ice, Dole whip and homemade edible cookie dough, they’re serving up square (yes, square) scoops (cubes?) of ice cream in a variety of flavors.

Zesto
Zesto is like if you closed your eyes and were transported to a small town, making it the perfect summer treat. Open only in the months of April through October, they have treats like mix-ins, malts and more.
