Balancing classes and homework can be a lot, but there are several spots fit for a study break on campus. Whether you need a peaceful time by yourself or want to do something fun, check out our favorite campus study breaks below:
Head to Nebraska East Union to bowl
Did you know that you can test your skills in bowling right here on campus? The Husker Bowling Center offers free bowling for UNL students during their regular hours. Grab a group of up to 6 players per lane and reserve your lane online. Drop-in visits are welcome, but priority is given to reservations and private parties.
Have a picnic and take in campus nature (weather permitting, of course)
Go outside and look at something other than a screen or book. From the Maxwell Arboretum on East Campus to the green space outside the Nebraska Union, there are a bunch of spots on campus to relax outside with your favorite book or snack. You’ll refresh yourself by getting some Vitamin D, enjoying a snack and getting a peaceful break from your work!
Grab ice cream at the Dairy Store
The Dairy Store is some of the best ice cream you’ll find, but we’re not biased at all! Head to East Campus to enjoy our very own ice cream shop — you’ll find ice cream and cheese that’s made by fellow Husker students. Grab a sundae, a root beer float or an espresso shake and satisfy your sweet tooth. Not sure how to get to East Campus? Check out the bus schedule or explore this list for ice cream spots closer to City Campus.
Visit a campus rec center
Whether you want to work out or have fun doing something like rock climbing, grabbing a massage or taking a cooking class, there are many fun things to do between the three rec centers on campus. Visit the Campus Recreation Center or the Outdoor Adventure Center on City Campus or head to the Recreation and Wellness Center at East Campus.
Grab a coffee
There are multiple coffee shops on campus for you to step away to grab a pick-me-up or even relocate for a new study spot. Check out the sleek, mint-colored design of the East Campus Starbucks or head to Innovation Campus for a scene change and some of Lincoln’s favorite drinks.
Check out a campus museum or gallery
From the historical animal exhibits at Morrill Hall to the thought-provoking rotating art exhibits at the Sheldon Museum of Art, there are several spots that offer free admission to students and are right here on campus. If you want to check out somewhere new, head over to the Great Plains Art Museum or the International Quilt Museum at East Campus.
