Physically, we’re bundled under our Husker hoodies and sipping on hot coffee from Tazza.
Mentally, spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming and stepping outside on campus doesn’t come with a wind chill.
We’re in a spring state of mind, and with that we’re planning out all our favorite springtime spots. Whether we’re catching up on our classes, enjoying chats with friends or just taking some time to soak in the sun, these spots are the perfect place to unwind on those warm post-winter days.
Sheldon Garden
The Sheldon Garden is a staple on City Campus. Stretch out on one of the benches with a good book, or bring down some snacks for a sunshine-filled lunch on one of the picnic tables. The fountains in the garden area are a favorite, but we especially love the gorgeous magnolia trees when they’re in bloom.
Hamann Rose Garden
We all know the Sunken Gardens, but what about that sweet little spot right across the street? The Hamann Rose Garden features a fountain and gazebo space filled with benches, making it a great spot to take on your latest read or to catch up with your pals.
The Mill on Innovation Campus
This location of Lincoln’s iconic Mill coffeehouses is our favorite for caffeine fixes. Hop on your bike and head down the Antelope Valley trail until you reach Nebraska Innovation Campus, or just take one of the inter-campus bus lines. Then grab a granita (or two!) and enjoy the light breeze out on their expansive outdoor seating section.
Karl Loerch Gazebo or Perin Porch
These East Campus hideaways are ideal for picnics, study sessions and hangouts. The gazebo, located right in the heart of the Maxwell Arboretum, is surrounded by gorgeous trees and blooms. Plus both are only a short distance from The Dairy Store, so you can grab yourself a sweet treat while you soak in the sun.
