John grew up in Lincoln, NE. He served in the U.S. Navy as a personnelman at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C. He taught history and U.S. government on the Navajo Nation before moving back to Nebraska to care for his father who has since passed away. John is married to Nancy who comes from the Philippines.

John regularly teaches Basic, High Basic, Intermediate, and High Intermediate Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Usage courses.
