Laurel received her bachelor’s degree from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska in Education, specializing in English and Religion. She went on to get her first Master’s degree in Youth Ministry from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Laurel later received a second Master’s degree in Literacy, Language, and Culture in the education program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Laurel first started teaching ESL in Egypt, when she spent a year as a volunteer there. She also taught ESL at Union College for a number of years before coming to teach at UNL in PIESL.
