Dear Husker family,
It is truly an honor and a privilege to have assumed duties as the 21st chancellor of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on July 1. As my wife, Temple, and I celebrated our nation's independence on July 4, it was also a perfect expression of the excitement I feel about leading one of our country's most important institutions — the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Now, it is time to move forward and begin the next chapter in this great university's history. Together, we will work to make the University of Nebraska–Lincoln the best place in the nation to be a student; we will expand our capacity to do world-class research; and we will engage, in meaningful ways, with communities across the state. Nebraska should expect nothing less from its flagship, land-grant and Big Ten university.
Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to connecting with you and experiencing Nebraska. I am especially excited to get to know the campus community, tour the state and participate in Big Red Welcome events.
This is a great time to be at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and we are going to have an exceptional year. Together, we are going to do big things — let's get started.
