A Message from the Chancellor

Colleagues,

I write to you today to share news regarding a transition in our senior leadership team.

Bob Wilhelm has elected to step down as our vice chancellor for research and economic development. In 2024, Bob will assume a faculty position and continue his research and teaching in engineering, policy and innovation.

Sherri Jones has agreed to serve as our interim vice chancellor, effective today. Sherri has been an exceptional academic leader for our university, having served in the College of Education and Human Sciences for nearly 12 years.

In her most recent role as dean, Sherri successfully established a collaborative culture within the college. That focus has led the CEHS team to achieve greater success in research awards; grant applications; local, national and global partnerships; clinical services; and study abroad opportunities.

It is my belief that Sherri’s work as a researcher, proven leadership within CEHS and passion for all things Nebraska are an ideal combination as we move forward with work to elevate our university’s national reputation.

In alignment with these leadership changes, Nick Pace has been appointed by Executive Vice Chancellor Katherine Ankerson to serve as acting dean in the College of Education and Human Sciences. I invite you to learn more about Nick and each of these leadership changes in Nebraska Today.

Please join me in thanking Bob, Sherri and Nick for their dedication to our university and supporting the work we do to impact Nebraska, the nation and the world.

Sincerely
