Dear colleagues,
Our university has earned recognition for sustainability efforts from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, the U.S. Green Building Council and others. However, our critical work in making smart choices to reduce our environment footprint is always a work in progress.
I am excited to share that we are now working to identify opportunities to continue to improve energy efficiency through a new university system-wide partnership with a leading energy conservation firm, Cenergistic. This partnership is a great opportunity for us to make gains in energy efficiency on our campus, and free up resources for reinvestment in our institution.
We all have roles to play in order to help ensure the greatest gains and impact for UNL. In the coming months, you will begin to see activity in various campus facilities as part of this effort. More details will be provided to campus leaders and building managers as the program gets implemented. If you have questions or feedback or about this effort, please feel free to send a note to energysavings@unl.edu.
Our partnership with Cenergistic is just one important component of ongoing sustainability efforts at UNL. We have a UNL Sustainability Initiative led Dave Gosselin and Prabhakar Shrestha including Amy Goodburn, Sharon Kuska, Linda Major, Julia McQuillan, Josh Overocker, Kim Todd and Tim Wentz. This planning team began its work in August to help us build a more sustainable and resilient community and to improve our environmental footprint. Thank you for accommodating the efforts of our partners from Cenergistic and for your engagement in and support of ongoing sustainability work at UNL.
