Rural Poetry Students Read at Spring Gathering
Ten Rural Nebraska Poets were recognized at the NeWP Annual Spring Gathering held on the UNL campus April 28, 2006. Six of these writers were on hand to read their original work, celebrating "local wonders"and reflecting rural life in Nebraska. Those present were: Chelsea Amundson, Candiace Clark, Julie Coddington, Tracy Fessler, Luke Hollis and Amanda Savely. Those poets not in attendance were: Kellen Ballagh, Brandon S. O'Neal, and Carl Pelster from Burwell Junior/Senior High (Connie Piper, instructor) and Jaime Crist from Cedar Bluffs Public School (LuAnn Soderling instructor).
The Rural Poetry celebration continued with readings at the State Capitol Building on May 5. Tracy Fessler was chosen as the Nebraska representative to the National celebration at the Library of Congress May 8.
