English 380: Writing Center Theory and Practice

Preference in hiring is given to those who have taken or will take ENGL 380: Writing Center Theory, Practice, and Research during their first semester of consulting. ENGL 380 is offered every fall semester.

This course is designed to help you develop an understanding of writing center theory and practice. You will have the opportunity to observe consultations in the Writing Center, reflect on your own and others’ writing processes and experiences, explore the theoretical foundations of writing center work, and build your “grab bag” of one-on-one consulting strategies. The course will also ask you to engage in a substantial research project examining UNL’s writing culture.
