Ms. Morris worked for 26 years for the Grand Rapids Police Department as a police officer. She served in numerous positions, including Special Response Team (SRT), Field Training Officer, Warrant Officer, Background Investigator, Police Recruiter, and patrol officer. She completed a master's thesis on police implicit bias training.
