Wunder Book Collection

Library shelf

The Center for Great Plains Studies' Wunder Book Collection is a small library of Great Plains-related works donated by John Wunder, located on the mezzanine level above the Great Plains Art Museum.

John Wunder, an eminent historian of the American West and UNL Professor of History emeritus, was the fourth Director of the Center for Great Plains Studies (1988-1997). He collected most of the books in this collection over a lifetime of scholarship, and generously donated them to the Center for use by its Fellows, Graduate Fellows, and visitors.

This library operates on the honor system. Please fill out the sign-in sheet. You are welcome to use the books as you need. Please do not reshelf - simply leave the books on any reading table when finished. Please do not make marks in the books.

“This expansive book collection really highlights the breadth of John Wunder’s work on the Great Plains,” Center Director Richard Edwards said. “John’s commitment to Great Plains scholarship is impressive, and now we get to pass it on to others interested in the region.”
