LGBTQ Pride Month

LGBTQ Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ voices, celebration of LGBTQ culture and the support of LGBTQ rights. It is celebrated every June in tribute to those involved in the Stonewall Riots which was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, workshops, symposia and concerts. The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services believes that Pride Month represents an act of love that goes beyond acceptance and respect. It reflects an appreciation for LGBTQ histories and lived experiences. It demonstrates what it means to have pride and love yourself, to not be afraid to love, and to love others for who they are and who they love.
