Physics & Astronomy is home to faculty with active and competitive research programs. Department grants total over $16 million in aid to support faculty, research assistants, and state-of-the-art facilities, such as our Diocles laser and the NCMN interdisciplinary efforts. The Department has three major research focus areas: Atomic, Molecular, Optical and Plasma Physics; Condensed Matter & Material Physics; and Experimental High Energy Physics.
